The Hobart Airport is located in the south of Australia, 17 kilometers away from the main city. It is the landing point for travelers wishing to go to Tasmania. The Tasman highway is the road that takes you to any part of the city from the airport. It is possible to get either a bus or taxi to and from the airport, with regular buses running in tune with flight times. Buses also run to the Hobart Central Business District and are operated by Tasmanian Redline Coaches.
Alternatively it is possible to hire a taxi outside the airport, with taxis operating on a meter fare as well as basic charges. Hiring a car is another option with many car hire companies operating their offices in the airport building in the arrivals hall or at the car park. It is always more convenient to book in advance to make sure you are fully informed about the prices and terms and conditions.
Short and long term parking facilities are available at the airport, with short term, i.e. less than 7 minute stay parking being free of charge. Valet indoor and outdoor parking are also offered.

There are a number of shops including a newsagent, and a number of cafes and bars catering to the food and drink needs of passengers. The lounge area is extremely comfortable, and equipped with public telephones which operate on a card or coin basis. For those interested in using the internet, wireless and hotspot options are available via two different providers. There are a few ATMs at the airport for any small money transactions that passengers might have to make. Toilets have been set up throughout the terminal building and adapted to the needs of disabled passengers.
A Direct Factory Outlet shopping centre is underway, offering a range of 100 fashion brands such as Nine West and Tommy Hilfiger. Essential shopping options are already plentiful in the form of gift shops and standard newsagents. It is possible to buy souvenirs of Tasmania and there is some limited clothing for sale.
